I've been sitting on the sidelines being apathetic most of my life, yet I've always rebelled against the norm. I guess you could say that I've had my own "quiet revolution". There have been witnesses to a few battles along the way, but I just haven't said "enough is enough" until now. As I approach 40 (I'm 38 now if you've lost count), I'm starting to reprioritize things that have always been important to me, but that I've never given my full, undivided attention.
In the last few days I've been talking with some people that I consider to be very good friends and have been having some really awesome discussions on everything from politics, religion, science, to completly juvenile subjects--it's been good. It's helped turn on a part of me that I've been shelving for no reason other than my own laziness.
One of the reasons I started this blog was to keep my son up-to-date on what's going on in my world while I'm away. Since that time, I've tried to broaden the scope to include family and friends along the way and make it more of an inclusive look for posterity. I'm hoping that some day he (and the rest of y'all) can look back and get a slight glimpse into the madness that is me. Not perfect by any means, but just trying to do the best I can with what I've been given. Never satisfied with the status quo... never.
So, on that note, if some of my facebook postings have been alarming to some or have taken a "what now" flavor for others, these links should explain it. One of them is a little silly, but he makes his point. The other two are from a comedian and are something I've always found that I'm drawn to certain comedic talent for... honesty. To infuse complete and total honesty into something that makes people laugh softens the blow and really makes you think--I appreciate that immensely.

Enjoy.
Have fun... and be good to each other.
