We're pretty efficient at getting our end of the job done and travel around Afghanistan is nothing less than a PITA... seriously. So, we setup our end and wait for the far end teams to get to their portion of the microwave links and sometimes we end up with some time to kill... Thanks to my team lead, Gary, I learned how to do the "cobra stitch" and "boondoggle".
I'm no pro, but I've made a few things while we had the time and cordage and I'm still learning. I want to tackle multiple strands next. I'll shoot an example.
1: Bandoleer for my Gerber LMF-ASEK knife (love that knife)
2: Wallet "chain" (I like it. It's different.) Just need a better wallet for it now.
3: Flat*, cobra stitch keychain, lanyard, or zipper pull in progress
4: Boondoggle keychain
*Just remove the white inner core strings to get it flat and do the normal cobra stitch braid.
