Anyhow, it's a Hobie One 14 design. Designed by Ron Holder, Made by Hobie, and it's a monohull, so I'm guessing that's the one (unless they intended it to be a one-design class boat)... oh, and it's 14'. The current owner named it Kenobi, so for you Star Wars fans... it's a Hobie One Kenobi. I think it's clever. I hope Mikey appreciates, enjoys, and learns on this boat. It's what the current owner used to teach his daughters, so it should be a good platform to start from.
I don't know how I'm going to be able to keep it a secret from him, I'm hoping to have it to him for his birthday. Only we'll probably have to wait until the spring to sail it unless there's some nice days in November (in VA, at that time... doubt it). Guess we can do some land-based training until then. Maybe that will help with the anticipation and keep his interest. I hope...
(Sorry this one was so long... I had a lot to say. I'm as excited as I hope he will be.)
